Garrett M. Albistegui Adler is an interdisciplinary environmental social scientist focused on political and social impacts of climate change and variability.  His research focuses on better understanding, testing for, and ultimately preventing the links between climate stress and violent conflict.  He earned a PhD in Environment and Resources and an MA in Political Science from Stanford University. He also holds an MSEd in Science Teaching from the City College of New York and an MA in Climate and Society from Columbia University.  Prior to joining Barnard, Albistegui Adler held appointments as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania's Perry World House and as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Princeton University's Center for Policy Research on Energy and the Environment.  Between college and his return to academic research, Albistegui Adler was trained as a New York City Teaching Fellow and spent a first six-year career as an NYC Public School science teacher at MS/HS 223 in the Bronx.
